3Wipe any accumulation of oil or gas from the filter housing and one-way drains (Feeler Gauge Procedure) To check and adjust
see SectionServicing Top-Side Components)3Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise to the TDC position on the compression stroke
indicated by the TF mark (A) on the flywheelTF is top dead center frontNOTE: At this point, the rocker arms and adjuster
screws on the front cylinder must not have pressure on them 5Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise until the TR mark (A)
aligns in the timing holeRepeat steps 3-4 for the rear cylinder ATV2058B 6Install the timing inspection plugATV2057B 4Using
feeler gauge, check each valvetappet clearanceIf clearance is not within specifications, loosen jam nut (B) and rotate the
tappet adjuster screw (A) until the clearance is within specificationsTighten each jam nut to 1.2 kg-m (104 inlb) after completing
the adjustment 7Place the four tappet covers into positionTighten the cap screws securely8Install the recoil starter assembly
