4Place the valve adjuster onto the jam nut securing the tappet adjuster screw; then rotate the valve adjuster dial clockwise
tension lead to the plug(s) and ground the plug(s) on the cylinder head well away from the spark plug holeNOTE: On the 650
V-Twin, both spark plugs must be removed 4Attach the Compression Gauge (pn 0444-096)NOTE: The engine must be warm and the
battery must be fully charged for this test 5While holding the throttle lever in the full-open position, crank the engine
over with the electric starter until the gauge shows peak reading (five to 10 compression strokes)NOTE: For the 400, the
compression should be within range of 95-115 psi in the full-open throttle positionFor the 500650 H1, the compression should
be within range of 70-85 psi in the full-open throttle positionFor the 650 V-Twin, the compression should be within range
of 45-80 psi in the full-open throttle position 8While holding the adjuster dial at the proper clearance setting, tighten
the jam nut securely with the valve adjuster handle; then tighten the jam nuts to specifications9Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise
