driven gear; then from the inside of the crankcase using rubber mallet, remove the output shaft assemblyAccount for the output
shaft, two gears, shim, washer, and the nut When servicing valve assembly, inspect valve seats, valve stems, valve faces,
and valve stem ends for pits, bum marks, or other signs of abnormal wear1 NOTE: Whenever valve is out of tolerance, it must
be replaced CleaningInspecting Valve Cover 1 NOTE: If the valve cover cannot be trued, the cylinder head assembly must be
replaced 1Wash the valve cover in parts-cleaning solvent2Place the valve cover on the Surface Plate (pln 0644-016) covered
with #400 grit wet-or-dry sandpaperUsing light pressure, move the valve cover in figure eight motionInspect the sealing surface
for any indication of high spotsA high spot can be noted by bright metallic finishCorrect any high spots before assembly
by continuing to move the valve cover in figure eight motion until uniform bright metallic finish is attained3-152 Page:
